Daenerys Targaryen and her Unsullied army

I just rewatched season 3 of Game of Thrones and I was surprised how much happened. Below is a summary of where the show left off. I didn't remember some of the details that I'm sure will be important at some point in Season 4 until seeing it again.

What Happened To The Main Characters

Jaime Lannister

  • Jaime was a prisoner of the Starks when Catelyn Stark sent him on a cross kingdom trek with Brienne of Tarth to be traded for the Stark daughters.
  • They are captured en route by a group of men from the House of Bolton led by a man named Locke
  • Out of the blue, Jaime has his sword hand cutoff by Locke
  • A cuople of days later while In a hot tub (things are tough when you are a Lannister and a prisoner), Jaime tells Brienne about the night he killed the King. Its a sympathetic story. But… he's a Lannister!
  • Lord Roose Bolton sends Jamie back to King's Landing with some of his men, sans Brienne.  When Jaime here's what they are going to do to Brienne he decides to head back to save her from fighting a bear! Could Jaime be in love?
  • Jaime makes it back to King's Landing alive with Brienne.

Daenerys Targaryen aka Khaleesi

  • She is a bad ass. She traded a dragon for 8,000 Unsullied soldiers and once the deal was completed, she had the dragon and the soldiers kill all their oid rulers and set all the slaves free in Astapor, one of 3 big cities in Slaver's Bay.
  • Repeat… she is a bad ass. And now she has 8,000 extremely dedicated soldiers and 3 dragons.
  • Ser Barristan Selmy, having been relieved of his duties at King's Landing by Cersei Lannister, has joined Daenery's army. This has been slightly upsetting to her number one knight, Jorah Mormont
  • On her way to Westeros, Khaleesi comes by the city of Yunkai which has thousands of slaves and is protected by the soliders of the Second Sun. One of the leaders of the Second Sun, Daario Naharis, kills the other leaders of the group and then pledges his love to Khaleesi. I'm sure Jorah is pissed about this whole thing.
  • Daario then leads the attack on Yunkai and they conquer the city. On the soldiers return to her headquarters, all Khaleesi really cares about is whether Daario lived. Much to the dismay of Jorah.
  • Yeah…so things aren't going Jorah's way. Will he betray her?
  • The free slaves of Yunkai join her growing army and call her "mother." How will she feed them all?
  • There is nothing now between Khaleesi and a trip across the sea to Westeros with her ex-slave army, 3 dragons, and numerous Knights and assassins who are in love with her.

Cersei Lannister

  • She's being just as nasty as ever and her father is making her marry Loras Tyrell for political reasons. She must be happy that Loras is gay so she can keep sleeping with her brother Jaime.
  • Except, she didn't look quite so happy when Jaime returned without a sword hand.

King Joffrey

  • Besides enjoying the general death and destruction of his citizens in various ways, Joffrey gets very excited when he hears that Robb Stark is dead. One of his celebratory wishes is to serve up the head of Robb Stark to Sansa at his wedding. The family won't allow it, but it was such a sweet gesture.
  • Other than that, he's just a sadistic ass who is afraid of his grandfather

Tyrion Lannister

  • He's now the treasurer of the kingdoms, much to his dismay.
  • He found out that it was King Joffrey that tried to kill him during the Battle of Blackwater.
  • His warrior handyman Bronn is still by his side and still whoring and fighting as much as he can.
  • Tyrion gets put in a corner by his father and is forced to marry Sansa Stark. This is a big problem because he still really loves Shea who is Sansa's maid.
  • Their wedding has some interesting moments where Tyrion gets very drunk and actually says, "my tiny drunk cock and I have a job to do." Oh… and he threatens King Joffrey who had earlier threatened to rape Sansa. Such a beautiful ceremony.
  • Tyrion told Sansa he won't go into her bed until she asks him to. The ever sweet Sansa, who always puts the feelings of others first, said back to him, "What if I never want you to?"
  • In an argument with his loving father, Tryion and Tywin have this sweet exchange:
    • Tyrion Lannister: "When have you ever done something that wasn't in your interest but solely for the benefit of the family?"
Tywin Lannister: "The day that you were born. I wanted to carry you into the sea and let the waves wash you away. Instead, I let you live. And I brought you as my son. Because you're a Lannister."
  • In the last episode of season 3 Tyrion delivers this great line, "Its not easy being drunk all the time. Everyone would do it if it were."

The King of the North, Robb Stark

  • Robb promises Edmure Tulley to marry a daughter of Walder Frey as payback for Robb breaking his deal with Frey earlier. They go to the "Red" wedding.
  • There was a slight mishap at the wedding where all the Stark men and Catelyn Stark were killed as was the plan of Walder Frey. Roose Bolton lands the final death blow to Robb.
  • Robb's wolf is killed also, right in front of Arya.
  • Edmure Tulley ended up in the dungeon for the night.
  • Edmure Tulley's father, Blackfish, got away before the slaughter.

Arya Stark

  • She was on her seemingly endless journey through the Kingdoms with the bastard son of the dead king Robert Baratheon, Gendry, and the overweight baker's boy, when she was "captured" by the Brotherhood Without Banners. The Brotherhood considers itself above all the warring clans in the Kingdom and travels around like a band of smart ass thieves.
  • The Brotherhood then captured Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane who told The Brotherhood Arya was a Stark, but they didn't seem to care.
  • The Hound was released after he beat the leader of the Brotherhood, Lord Beric Dondarrion, in a match to the death. After Dondarrion was just about killed, he was brought back to life by Thoros who called in the Lord of Light to save Dondarrion.
  • While running through the woods away from The Brotherhood, Arya was grabbed by The Hound and they started traveling together, much to the chagrin of Arya.
  • They end up showing up at the Red Wedding just as everyone is killed to the horror of Arya. The Hound takes her out of the city as Robb's army is murdered all around her. The Hound actually seems to be a caretaker of Arya right now.
  • On their trek through the Kingdom they run across some men going on about the death of the Starks. Arya approaches them at a fire and kills one of them. Her first kill. The Hound kills the rest of them.
  • After killing him Sansa looked at the coin that the lyrical assassin Jaqen H'ghar (more on Jaqen here) gave her. It seems like she's goign to head to Braavos to learn how to become a killer

Jon Snow

  • He's out Beyond the Wall with his red headed girlfriend, Ygritte,  trying to prove to the Free Folk (Wildlings) that he is no longer a Crow, but one of them.
  • He climbed the wall with other Free Folk warriors and almost died.
  • Once they got topside, the Wildlings insisted he kill an innocent man, but he wouldn't. He ended up fighting his way out of there after killing several of them. He left Ygritte behind as he rode away on the horse. This happened right below a tower that Bran, Rickon, and company were hiding out and they saw him.
  • Ygritte tracks him down on his way back home and holds him at arrow point, and shoots him with 3 arrows while crying about it. He got away on his horse though. I'm sure his love of her has only grown from this incident.
  • Jon makes it back to Castle Black with the 3 arrows in him. He looks like he will live.

Samwell Tarley

  • The overweight member of the Knight's Watch stumbles and bumbles his way through  the lands Beyond the Wall with Gilly and her newborn.
  • He came across a dagger made of a Dragonstone (maybe in season 2) which he carries with him.
  • In desperation when attacked by a White Walker,  he uses that knife and it made the White Walker crumble into nothing.
  • One day while stumbling around he runs into Bran at his hideout.
  • Sam gave Bran the Dragonglass knife that killed the White Walker.
  • Sam gets back to Castle Black and they send Ravens out to inform the rest of the Kingdom that the White Walkers are on the way.

Bran Stark

  • We found out that Bran is a Warg (can enter the minds of animals) and he befriends another boy about his age who is also a Warg, Jojen Reed, and Jojen helps him understand his powers.
  • Bran was heading to Castle Black with his brother Rickon, Hodor, and Osha but once they had a bit of a run in with the Wildlings and they saw Jon Snow, they settled in with the idea that they couldn't go to Castle Black. So Bran and Jojen are heading beyond The Wall so that Bran can find the three eyed raven that has been in his dream. Osha and Rickon are heading to a castle in the North to keep Rickon safe.
  • Bran feels he has to go North beyond the wall so he can stop the White Walkers.

The Night's Watch

  • Most of them left Castle Black with the group to try and find Benjen Stark and came across the White Walkers beyond The Wall.
  • After almost starving and freezing to death, there was some internal disagreements in the group and the leader, Lord Commander Jeor Mormont, ended up being killed by his own men.

Gendry

  • The bastard son of the dead king Robert Baratheon was hanging out with Arya and the Brotherhood, until the Red Witch, Melisandre, showed up and paid the Brotherhood so she could take him away.
  • She takes him to King's Landing and ties him to a bed and uses leeches to get some of his blood. This blood of course is from the lines of kings.
  • Melisandre then gives the blood filled leeches to Stannis Baratheon and he throws them in the fire saying names for each of them he throws him: Robb Stark, Joffery Lannister, and Balon Greyjoy.
  • Robb Stark dies shortly after.
  • Davos Seaworth, a Captain under Stannis Baratheon who doesn't seem to have any sense of self preservation as he's always fighting Stannis and Melisandre, sets Gendry free just as Stannis and Melisandre are going to kill him to eliminate the bastard's right to the throne.

Theon Greyjoy

  • There was no joy for Theon in season 3. In a seemingly never ending storyline that is filled with nothing but pain and cringe worthy scenes, Greyjoy has been tortured in many ways including having his dick cut off.
  • His member was then sent to his father and sister in a nice box. His sister vowed to gather up the best of the iron born and go save her dickless brother.
