Problems Logging In?
There's a bug in Mircrosfot's Internet Explorer version 6. Find out how to fix this problem here. Site Information
I built 90% of this site in the Summer of 2000 because I wanted to see what I could build from scratch, and because I was having my braces put on which was terrible and layed me up for a while. Over time I have found that I use the site constantly as a resource for both good sites and good articles that I find out there. I also use the movie section all the time to get multiple reviews easily and quickly get local show times. The other big reason I will keep the site running is because of all the pictures. I have just found that to be one of the funniest things about having this site. Hope you enjoy them too. Thanks for dropping by!! Technical Mumbojumbo
This site was built with TWO purchased technologies: Windows 2000 Server (thanks Jill!) and Microsoft Access. All the functionality on the site has been built using Active Server Pages on the server and Javascript and DHTML on the client. ASP and Access were chosen because I did not think that scalability would be a problem and I wanted a certain level of portability if I ever have to change my site host (aplushosting.com). I decided early on that I could not afford the time needed to make this site suitable for browsers other than IE, so I took advantage of some of IE's extended features. Especially iFrames and DHTML. I pretty much have built everything from scratch so far, but in the future I may use some sharware components. Building from scratch has enabled me to integrate different pieces of the site (example: movies and discussions) much more easily than if I were dealing with purchased components. Of course, that meant I had to build everything, but fortunately I have built up a library of functionality over the years which made this a less daunting task.
