Sunday NFL Notes – Here Comes Free Agency

A few links from around the web a couple days before free agency starts:

  • Pete Prisco lists the top 30 free agents. #2 is Mario Williams:"How would you like to be his agent? He is going to be the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL. End of story."
  • The Herald on some of the Pats free agents. Here are some thoughts on Mark Anderson: "The Patriots want pass-rusher Mark Anderson back, and he wants to return, I’m told. But at what price? They gave OLB Tully Banta-Cain a big raise a few years back, and that backfired. It makes me wonder if that’s why they are nervous about a guy like Anderson (though I don’t think they should be). Either way, this is another one that could go to the wire, but if Anderson and his 10 sacks his the market, I think he’ll generate plenty of interest. Might be tough to keep him then."
  • Mike Reiss with some quick hits including something on Luis Castillo: " The Patriots struck gold when signing an injured veteran from the Chargers in 2003 – Rodney Harrison. I think they’d be smart to think along the same lines this year, with eight-year veteran defensive lineman Luis Castillo. Help is needed up front. "
  • Is Denver the favorite for landing Peyton Manning?
  • Mike Reiss looks at some linebackers the Patriots may be interested in.
