The Patriots Have Some Cap Space To Go Big

After franchising Wes Welker, the Patriots have $16.2 million in cap space. They will have to use some of that money to sign the likes of Andre Carter, Dan Koppen/Dan Connolly, Mark Anderson, and a few other folks like Matthew Slater. They don't have tons of room, but there is a chance they can take  a shot a big target like pass rusher Mario Williams, a receiver like Steeler Mike Wallace, or a DB like Raven Ladarius Web.

I'm skeptical of all these scenarios as nobody seems to be able to guess what the Patriots are going to do correctly and they have stayed out of the big name free agent market for quite a while.

One option nobody is talking about is going after the best CB on the market: Kansas City's Brandon Carr.

One thing I think the pundits have wrong is the perception of the team in their eyes vs. Belichick's. That defense is still very young and may not need as much help as they think. And the help they need more than anything is probably at safety. So I wouldn't be at all surprised if they go out quick for one of the top safeties like Dwight Lowery and then follow it up with a veteran CB and a WR like Brandon Lloyd.
